Nature is my life! They die I die.
Shanghai , China
Nature is our mother. It gives lives and provides all we need. Nature is the home to all living things. We have the responsibility to protect it. Nature is the source of power and wisdom. Human being once was more connected to nature but we have lost the connection and become ignorant as a whole. We need to wake up and start to make changes to the way we live and treat our environment and other living things.

Nature is the only asset which gives shelter to everyone.

It does not matter how small you are, everything you do for the environment counts. I am 15 years old and I love football and outdoor adventure. I understood the impact of deforestation, climate change and plastic pollution when I was about 11 years old. I decided to do something about it. I combined my love for football and nature. I committed that for every goal I score I plant a tree. That’s how the Trees for Goals initiative was born. Through the initiative, I have influenced change in my school, my football club, local community as well as encourage my friends to join the afforestation efforts. I increased my target seven times; for every goal, I score I plant Seven trees, then to 11 times my initial target: for every goal, I score I plant 11 trees it represents team effort in football. I have planted over 1000 trees in the last two years. That’s my Earth Hour 2020 TWICE the effort DOUBLE the Impact.

Madina Amin Hussein
Garissa , Kenya
I was born in Bodhei , my people are farmers in the semi-arid region of Garissa. Growing up my village was green, but unsustainable agriculture and deforestation has made Bodhei lose it’s green. In the neighbouring Masalani, communities are more inclined to pastoralism. Pastoralists believe God grows trees or trees just grow by themselves like grass, and it’s their duty to utilise. I am on a mission to change the myth. This can only be achieved through action on the ground and a strong movement that will advocate for sustainability and call for reafforestation- that movement is young people from my community and beyond.
